He began composing on piano at age five, was playing professionally by 13, and performed a solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City on his 21st birthday. At college Spencer explored film and produced concerts for various campus venues with acts like The Ramones, The Clash and Pat Metheny Group. Then he joined concert icon and artist manager, Bill Silva to work with bands like U2, The Who, Police, Tom Petty, Simon & Garfunkel, INXS, The Pretenders and YES.
In 1992, Spencer was hired by game giant SEGA where, over the next five years, he composed music for some of the most popular games in history, including Sonic The Hedgehog CD, Batman Returns, Ecco The Dolphin I and II, Jurassic Park, Spider-man and dozens more. Spencer has scored hundreds of projects for ABC, American Airlines, Cisco Systems, ESPN, GM, Kodak, NBC, ProActiv, the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the SuperBowl and others.
